Hello I’m Donna

I’m proud to say I’m from the North East, a little place called Washington.  I’m a crazy, creative, dyslexic happily married mum of three.  I work full-time in a bookstore.  Books and reading have always been a passion of mine but it has not always been possible to indulge due to previous demanding career choices.

I always wanted to write.  Although my dyslexia wasn’t diagnosed officially until a few years ago, I had always known it was part of me. When my daughter exhibited similar traits, her diagnosis motivated me to show her that neurodiversity is not a barrier but a unique aspect of who we are. I wanted to prove that with the right strategies, nothing is impossible.  Being neurodiverse should not be something you are embarrassed about nor should it hold you back.

My writing career blossomed from three significant influences. First, I wanted to demonstrate to my daughter that anything is achievable.  Second, my crazy friend Mel, who owns a successful cake company told me that if I ever decided to write a book she would love to be my proofreader.  I had begun writing and was about six months into the process when I called her with a “Do you remember that conversation we had?”  Mel has been there for me and encouraged me every step of the way.  My friend Dawn is like a sister from another Mr and she had read my book and helped with my first initial layout.   My crazy tarot reading and Reiki practitioner friend Chris also proofread for me. The third reason for my writing endeavour was to create a story I would personally love to read.  As an avid fan of steamy, dark romances, I knew this was the genre for me.  I am a confident, strong-willed, and self-reliant individual, and I enjoy crafting characters that embody these traits. I appreciate a bit of grit and a touch of spice in my reads, and I aimed to infuse my book with these elements.
